Matthew 5:2 Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. We are poor in spirit when we realize that we are helpless, without  wisdom and understanding, and that we need the mind of Christ because we lack it.  When you operate being poor in spirit you realize that it is not my intellect, my reasoning, my wisdom, or my understanding.   Then you open the doors to the kingdom of heaven.  But the problem is we try to bring our humanity into the realm of His divinity…there is a conflict a conflict of whose in charge.  Often times we want to be the ones running the show.  Being poor in spirit is emptying out ourselves so that God’s power can flow through us.  Often times we spend so much time being full of our own spirit and not enough time being poor in spirit.  I cannot apply my deductive reasoning along with God’s reasoning.  When we are poor in spirit the scripture says “theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.”  Everything that the kingdom has to offer is accessible, but we’ve got to get out of the way.  No one understands life except the giver if life.  The problem is we have preconceived ideas about everything in our lives and everyone else’s too.  Human thinking is so quick to KNOW, you prayed, but you already knew the answer that you wanted, you try to access the kingom, but its all clogged up with your thoughts… and we wonder why we aren’t blessed.  (Thoughts taken from Dr. Vanessa Dantzler)
